MRC Alon Tavor is situated in the Alon Tavor industrial park, in the area of the Jezreel valley local council. MRC is the first power station that was privatized as part of the reform in the electricity sector and passed into private hands, which enabled a reduction in electricity rates for the private consumers. It is also the third largest station owned by the private sector.
The station currently operates two gas turbines in a combined cycle, along with two additional peaker units in an open cycle, powered by diesel with a total capacity of 583 MW. The combined cycle technology enhances energy efficiency, maintains environmental quality, and increases the MW capacity produced at the station. During 2025, construction of a new peaker unit was completed and it supplies an additional 230 MW of capacity, alongside potential for future projects in the station’s area.
