MRC Alon Tavor is situated in the Alon Tavor industrial park, in the area of the Jezreel valley local council. MRC is the first power station that was privatized as part of the reform in the electricity sector and passed into private hands, which enabled a reduction in electricity rates for the private consumers. It is also the third largest station owned by the private sector.
The station currently operates two gas turbines in a combined cycle, along with two additional units (peaker units) in an open cycle, powered by diesel with a total capacity of 583 MW. The combined cycle technology enhances energy efficiency, maintains environmental quality, and increases the MW capacity produced at the station. Currently, a Peaker unit is being constructed on this site, which will supply an additional 230 MW, alongside the promotion of future projects.
