First facility of its kind for sorting and recycling municipal waste
Using anaerobic digestion technology to produce clean electricity from biogas and composting to produce fertilizer for agriculture
A safety net from the state to guarantee the facility's income
The first facility of its kind in Israel for the treatment of municipal waste through the use of innovative and advanced technologies for waste recycling and treatment. The facility, whose construction began in early 2023, is expected to be the largest in Israel and among the largest of its kind in the world. It will provide a response to local authorities in the Tel Aviv district and the center, which are responsible for producing about half of the amount of waste in Israel. In view of the fact that the facility is expected to recycle approximately 60% of the waste received, it will dramatically reduce the amount of waste landfilled in Israel.
The facility is expected to provide a complete end-to-end solution for the waste absorbed in it, based on three main stages: absorption and sorting, anaerobic digestion and composting. During its operation, the facility is expected to generate income mainly from absorption fees, for waste received at the factory gate, from the sale of recycling products and from the sale of electricity that will be produced in the facility using the biogas method.
