Metropoline was founded in 2000 in response to the opening of the public bus transportation market in Israel to competition, and operates in the provision of passenger transportation services on public transportation lines in inner-city and intercity buses in four clusters: the Negev cluster, the Sharon cluster, the Ono-Elad cluster and the Sharon-Holon cluster.
The field of public transportation benefits from significant state protections, which demonstrate the essentiality of its provision to the public and are reflected in a pricing model which is mainly based on payment from the state for each kilometer of travel. In addition, there are also incentives based on the number of passengers and the level of service provided.
Metropoline’s focus on providing public transportation services in adjacent geographic areas allows it to operate efficiently, to use its size advantage and to achieve operational synergy. The expansion of the company’s activities allows it to invest in advanced technologies for a more efficient use of the company’s resources and to improve the service provided to passengers.
