The project is promoted as part of the National Infrastructure Plan 91, after the completion of the planning procedure in the Infrastructure Committee and pending the government approval of the plan
A power station in the development phase, under the jurisdiction of the Drom HaSharon Regional Council. The station is expected to operate using natural gas. National infrastructure plan 91 to build a natural gas power plant at the site, with a capacity of up to 1,300 mw, was authorized by the government in April 2017. The plan has passed the planning process at the National Infrastructures Committee and is now pending final government approval, after which the station will be built.
The National Infrastructures Committee ranked the site in the high ranking. The area on which the station is expected to be built is close to electricity and natural gas infrastructures, in an unusable area and close to the main areas of demand for electricity in Israel, facts that give the station a significant advantage over other alternatives.
