MRC Alon Tavor is located in the Alon Tavor industrial zone, situated within the jurisdiction of the local council of Emek Yizrael, between Afula and Kfar Tavor. It is the first power station to be privatized as part of the electricity market reform and has transitioned to private hands, a move that allowed a 4% reduction in electricity rates for private consumers and is the third largest station held by the private sector.

The station is situated on a vast area enabling the initiation and establishment of additional energy facilities. Currently, a “peaker” unit is being constructed on this site which will provide an additional 230 mega-watts, alongside the promotion of other future projects.

The station operates two gas turbines in combined cycle and two additional units (peaking) in open cycle, fueled by solar with a total capacity of 583 MW. The combined cycle technology improves energy efficiency, maintains environmental quality, and increases the mega-watt output produced by the station. On another designated site for electricity production, significant additional production units are expected to be established. Currently, the company is advancing the necessary planning processes for the project’s establishment.
